Trade

Approximately 26% of alumina produced is traded on a regional basis with SGA making up by far the bulk of this trade. Australia (Oceania) and South America are the two large exporting regions with all other regions being net importers.

The Middle East, by virtue of its large primary aluminum production and very small alumina refining industry, is the largest single sink for alumina exports. All other importing regions have a similar level of imports.
